The hotel staff was exceptionally friendly and provided great local recommendations, which made exploring Kyoto easier and more enjoyable.

The noise from the floor above was quite noticeable, especially during late hours, which could be disruptive to a good night's sleep.

cozy boutique hotel feel, clean simple furnishings, lovely aroma from daily baked bread

The bathroom is ridiculous!!! A tiny space that feels dangerous with the steep step up. Plus, the lack of an elevator means heavy luggage drags on your back. This could easily deter taller guests!!!

tiny bathroom

lack of upgrade

the hotel is unbelievably charming, but don’t let that fool you. the bathroom is absurdly tiny, and i couldn’t even wash my hands if the shower was on! also, if you're somewhat special like me, a complimentary upgrade would’ve been nice, instead of this pilfered feeling. almost gave them 4 stars, but just couldn’t.
